Talkin’ Rice With Marty Mar

Just this weekend I was at a birthday party for my friend Nya and while drying off I was standing by my friend Marty who is obsessed with rice.

Marty, seen here with me while we were seeing some amazing event, is so much into rice that he created a Facebook Group for people who love rice.

To join that group simply visit this link, RICE on Facebook or go to this URL: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=131928703493172&ref=ts

The following is my conversation from Saturday with Marty on the topic of rice.

HUNGRY AS HELL - PART II

Today is Sunday and the end of week number two. I have become better at watching what I eat. Corrin Dragon said the first week would be the toughest and she was right, the second week has been considerably easier. I continue to run twice a week and have included 50 jumping jacks, 20 toe touches and 10 push ups every days.

I find that I don’t miss fast food and junk food so much for its taste as much as I do for it’s availability in my work week. It is so much easier to get a Bacon Cheese Burger from Jack In The Box rather than make a healthy lunch the day before instead.

In the end, the latter pays off.

The weight loss has been steady and continues to occur, I find that I still eat some things I love to eat just in regulated amounts. Example: My mother made Spaghetti and meatballs when I went to visit home this week. Rather than have three bowls which was my usual helping. I stopped at one bowl.

Another diet change is instead of eating like a candy bar or a bag of chips, I’ll eat an apple. During all of this I continue to drink only water.

Since my diet change and my increased physical acivity I find I’m tired less during the day andntired more at night wich accounts for better sleep. This puts me in better moods which is good since my job has the word “merry” in the title.

I must confess I did only go running one day last week but that was only because on the day that I should have run, I was crammed in a mosh pit at the KMFDM show in Tempe. If you have never been in a pit before than I will tell you keeping your feet planted where you want them is a work out in itself. It was super hot and sweaty and the band was fantastic but after a few songs in KMFDM’s set I as D-U-N done! So I feel i got my work out on Monday there. As for the show, KMFDM tore it up! They are much heavier live than on CD, great show!

Also I swam a shit ton this weekend.

Thanks for reading about my fat ass. I’ll try and get a post up that isn’t weight related here in the near future. Now here’s this week’s weight.

START WEIGHT=229 LBS.

THIS WEEK’S WEIGHT=222 LBS.

Hungry As Hell - Part 1

I started a diet. It’s not by a desire to better my health in any way or even because I care what I look like which is AWESOME! Any who contest that are fools.  Anyway, my dietary change is being fueled by cold hard cash my friends.

The people I work with have started an in company version The Biggest Loser weight competition. Over a course of 12 weeks I, along with 19 others will be attempting to lose weight to collect a grand prize of, DRUM ROLL PLEASE……….. $240.

It isn’t a terribly large sum but it is still something to win, which I like doing.

I weighed in last Saturday at a staggering 229 pounds. The goal weight I set is a loss of 30 pounds which puts me at just under 200 when this thing wraps up.

Now the contest runs from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31 which means that so far I’m one week in. Since the first of the month I have monitored what I have been eating. It’s been a rocky first week. I ate some things I shouldn’t and came very close to quitting. I really do miss the food I love.

Hot ‘n Spicy Chicken Sandwiches from McDonald’s, French Fries, Soda, Root Beer. Also, oddly enough for me… real beer which I must drink in moderation when I partake.

Instead of my usual deep fried deliciousness of a diet, my meals are filled with salads, light sandwiches, water.  At Arriba I ordered a frerakin’ grilled chicken breast with beans while those around me ate mini chimis and big awesome meals.

At Subway I attempted to enjoy my first flatbread sub. It was horrible. Bland and boring. Granted Justine was sitting across from me eating a fucking Spicy Italian with the works. So what if I may have been comparing a bit too much? I WAS HUNGRY DAMN IT!

On top of doing all that, I am also running regularly. which will hopefully work toward my ultimate goal.

Well, that’s it for now

Here’s the Weekly Update for those following me while I attempt to cease being a fat ass!

START WEIGHT=229 LBS

THIS WEEK’S WEIGHT= 227 LBS.

If a Pink Bunny Can Break Bricks…

I have lost the zeal for writing.  I used to enjoy it. Today I talked with a former NFL player who loved playing football until he got to the pros.  I think the same happened to me with my love of writing down every absurd thought I have. Every crazy story I care to tell and all the things I have say. Once journalism became work it became unfun. And it didn’t become work like that one can tolerate for 30 years and do it repeatedly. It became like forced chore.

That’s probably why when I was told my writing was weak that’s because I hated what I was doing. That’s why I ended up working as a maid and now a Dr.’s office front desk.

The other day at work, I ran into a lady who works for a local paper that I once applied to work at. She knew me from the time I spent briefly working in the “field.” She asked me if I miss it. I do. But decided recently that I got tired of telling the world of things in my life. I think I just felt people stopped caring about my thoughts so I choose to cease.

I have had a few book ideas but none seemed grand enough to follow through on.  Perhaps I’ll get back to documenting my life as I had been doing to put my fear of Alzhimer’s disease to end. You see, one of my fears in life is that I’ll get the unfortunate condition that slowly leads to a loss of memory and brain function.

How will I beable to gloat and enjoy the glory that is ME if I can’t remember it! HOW!?

THIS SILENCE HAS GOT TO GO!

He’s Back

Back To Basics

Back when, I started a blog called Fez Sez.  It was about me and the shit I got into. I looked back at the last few years and with my blog as in life I forgot what I doing.

So to any readers out there in the blogsphere who are still with me let’s catch up.

Well the economic downfall that has been brewing for the past few years has paired up with the digital revolution and run me out of journalism. Guess I didn’t have what it took to keep swimmin in that river.

Speaking of swimming, the office that I work at has a pool. After my recent stint of unemployment, I found a job at Merry Maids in Central Phoenix. My role there is office assistant but don’t let my office bitch title fool you, they have trained me into a cleaning machine.

The funny thing about being paid to create written content is you kind of lose the zest to do it for fun. One may have noticed my blog entries became fewer and fewer recently. That will happen I suppose.

In late December of 2008, dwn.cyde, the first official rock band I ever became a part of disbanded after 2 years. Knowing the end was coming I took to finding a new sound to join up with.  And so in January of 2009 I found Adam’s Evil and hard punk type outfit out of Central Phoenix. I joined them as their 4th Drummer and found out that AE had had a long history of rocking and I was just a branch on the tree that was this band.

They had been around for many years in different forms. Now the form I was a part consisted of Sarah, Mouse, Kris and myself.  Together we played many shows including my little sister’s Luau Birthday party.  We also put of a five track EP called “Play Me.”

Despite my fondness for the members and the band as a whole, I felt I contributed all I could and decided to take my leave from AE after a year and a half. They have filled the drum throne with a new drummer and veteran rocker named Kerry who I have seen in concert with AE. They are rockin! I can honestly say I am an Adam’s Evil Fan for life!

I am very glad I got to be a part of an institution like Adam’s Evil. I learned a lot about how to play drums and hot to be a musician. Most importantly I made great friends out of Mouse, Sarah, and Kris.

In the wake of my musical exodus a ghost came back from the afterlife. dwn.cyde somehow came back to life. We are rocking and rollin and havin a good time doing so.  One thing is different this time.  Ben Brown, my best buddy of Nearly 12 years is now in the band with me. I have been waiting to be in a band with him for many moon and now we’re doin it.

That being said, I’m out of things to say tonight.

It’s Greg’s Birthday

Today is a short blog because it’s a holiday. However, let me just say, if more homeless people danced or something when they stood on public medians, society might be more inclined to give them money! We wouldn’t even have to call them Bums anymore we could call them Street Performers! Just a thought.

ANYWAY!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREG PRIDHAM!

May the day bring you movies and strippers and movies about strippers!

That is all.

3D Kelly and movies that look good

A movie that doesn’t look to be particularly entertaining will be released soon. “Piranha 3D” is that movie and stars, eh who cares. The only reason I’m gonig to see it is because British model Kelly Brook will be in the movie and will be nude… IN 3D!

Now just last night I explained to my friend that I don’t see 3D films because the price is flipping ridic! But I may make an exception since Kelly is going to SO much trouble to make sure I go. Besides doing an interview on one of my favorite TV programs, Attack Of The Show, she will be gracing the pages of the always classy, PLAYBOY! If you have not Googled Kelly Brook, you are missing out chaps!

Now this alone is is enough to make me a life long fan of her’s I can only hope her hotness covers up the P-3D’s crappy quality.

OTHER MOVIES-If you want to see some films that look pretty awesome here’s a list to look forward too.

AUGUST 13 release
Scott Pilgrim VS. The World
- Quirky Michael Cera stars as a Scott Pilgrim battling  the 7 Evil Exes of his dream girl in order to win her heart. Looks quite ace!

SEPTEMBER 10 release
RESIDENT EVIL: Afterlife
- Milla Jovovich returns as Alice in what I think maybe the end of the Resident Evil series. If you play the game you’ll probably hate the movie as you did the rest of them, but I (and people like me) who don’t give two shits, we’ll enjoy the film as we did the rest. If you are fan of 3D, unlike me, you can watch this in the glorious third dimension for $65 at your nearest MEGA-PLEX.

PETAK

Petak means Friday in Croatian. Don’t ask me why I know that. Or do, either way.

Today is Friday! Let’s all celebrate together like a bunch of fat kids at McDonald’s!

So my gift to you is this vintage clip from TV’s greatest block of programming, ENJOY AND SEE YOU ON MONDAY!

The Creepy Legend of Carol Anne

Lately Cinemax has been airing scary movies from the 80’s & 90’s. The ones I have been enjoying mostly are the films that make the Hellraiser series. I can’t stop watching the first two. Just this week, they began to play the Poltergeist movies.

As I was watching Poltergeist II this morning because I woke up at 4am for some reason to down a gallon of water I couldn’t help but wonder about the little weird looking girl from the movie that is now a recognizable face and name, Carol Ann.

Carol Ann was played by an actress named Heather O’Rourke who I got curious about. See, often times these 80’s kid stars never amount to much and we never see them after the performance that made them famous.

So in looking into the life of Heather O’Rourke I found a bit more than I was looking for. What I was expecting was a criminal record of meth usage or some failed album attempts. Not the case.

Apparently O’Rourke died when she was 12 years old shortly after filming Poltergeist III which she never got to see.  According an O’Rourke Fansite:

On the morning of Feb. 1st, 1988, while preparing for school that day, Heather’s mother noticed that she did not look well and became concerned that Heather had not yet recovered from the apparent flu that she had over the past weekend.  When Heather’s symptoms suddenly became worse and she collapsed, an ambulance was summoned.  On the way to a local hospital, Heather went into shock and lost consciousness, followed by cardiac arrest.

O’Rourke was resuscitated and taken to the hospital where she later died that afternoon. I was unable to locate any official reason for the child star’s death but the main one is she suffered an “intestinal obstruction that had eventually caused part of her small intestine to burst.”

Now the crazy part of all this her death was blamed on a belief that O’Rourke, along with 4 other people involved in the making of the Poltergeist series, died due to The Poltergeist Curse. An urban legend that brought down despair to the people making the movies in an attempt to cease production.

According to backstage personnel at Paramount, the ghost of O’Rourke herself haunts Paramount Pictures’ stage #19, where she filmed the episodes of Happy Days she was in.

Creepy, huh?
